What if a chess site were set up to completely eliminate rude behavior?

+1 for banning james for obvious trolling which is not nice but d*ck*ry / c*nt*ry
+1 for use disable chat option; if u seek friends try a social platform or real life and dont try to make ppl censor a whole site only cuz anon is mean to you

you could also browse 4chan for an hour the week and suddenly the folks here seem to be the best mannered of the internet

i propose a insult button in the options, so that ppl know when they can go after each other without hurting the special snowflakes

also this is a problem that could be solved with the reputation system as casualr keeps promoting which is nice imho
"i propose a insult button in the options, so that ppl know when they can go after each other without hurting the special snowflakes"

On an open site for chess enthusiasts, please duel with chess skills, not your sharp tongues.
#43 you clearly have a point there but at least i wouldnt like to be bothered with a word filter or similar when i found someone to swear with^^
In every society, there has to be an element of give and take, and an acceptance that some people will flout the laws and guidelines of the community. I don't think blanket censorship is the answer, nor am I trying to shut up or shout down anyone who has an opposite point to me (referring to a standard "you liberals are all the same and secretly dictators yourselves" post from earlier).

The bottom line is that LiChess's governing force is small, voluntary and development/anti-cheater focused and has no time for petty squabbles, so acceptance and tolerance or simply blocking or walking away from the small minority of idiots who try to ruin it HAS to be the a solution (imo) unless somebody does create a site with no chat, forum or prescribed text, in which case people will still vent their idiocy on the board. I personally would not play on such a site because of the lack of interaction, which is partially what makes LiChess so appealing.

The world is a nasty place. Utopias don't exist. It's a hard thought to accept, and I'm not sure I do it in every part of my life, I do have an idealist streak, but I would like to think that no one is naive enough to think that a utopia can exist on the internet in the 21st century. This is as close as it gets.
It happen not that often. I think.
It happened to me once but my opponent was obviously 12 years old so...
I think the best solution is to ignore these players and beat them. The hate make you blunder !
I'm clearly against a filter. Let's have a good time if your opponent live through provocations and hate too bad for him.
theres one guy who plays anonymously who is quite rude. several times I have played him and beaten him after he insulted me. if this guy ever insults any of you (you will know because he is very rude) then remind him that I have beaten him many times, and even caused him to ragequit.
#47 gr8m8m8 Thank for bring up this topic and after reading all these chats here I find it to be quite a wild place. You want to make lichee.org on the Internet an Utopia on Earth? Next to impossible, my friend. One should be satisfied if it can be reduced. The Internet Frontier is a realm where DR. JEKYLL becomes MR. HYDE.
