Checkmate like Kingscrusher (Miniature Mates Series)

ChessTacticsChess PersonalitiesStrategy
Learn to checkmate opponents and punish mistakes like CM Tryfon Gavriel aka Kingscrusher as you play through his 356 checkmate wins with both pieces in March of 2024

Introducing the Miniature Mates Series

This is the first installment of my Miniature Mates Series where we are covering the short and sweet checkmate wins (35 moves or less) of our favorite attacking masters and other strong online players. In this series we also learn how a strong master punishes instructive blunders and mistakes that allow a checkmating attack.

CM Tryfon Gavriel (Kingscrusher-Youtube)

Gavriel is a British chess player known for his attacking style. He is often found taking down strong masters in online tournaments such as the Daily SuperBlitz and is the fifth leading tournament point scorer on lichess. He is well known by his alias "Kingscrusher" and was was one of the first popular youtubers. His channel features many instructional chess videos covering the games of great masters as well as neural networks, and much more! He is also an engaging and insightful chess teacher (and a personal hero of mine) with many fantastic courses on Udemy.

LichessTools

To get the most out of this study you should add the LichessTools browser extension. LichessTools allows you to play through all the games/variations in an interactive lesson chapter (rather than just the single main line). So if you decline to add LiChess Tools then you are only playing 10% of the study. Available here:

Note

Many additional games ended in resignation or a time win with a mating sequence on the board (e.g., mate in 2). Such games were not included in these studies for efficiency reasons. Suffice to say, it is much easier to filter out games that resulted in a checkmate on the board.
