Such a pointless discussion. Was Bach, Mozart or Beethoven the greatest composer of all time? Mozart ́s greatest works would have been without Bach unthinkable, same goes for Beethoven without both of his equally titanic predecessors. Can ́t we just leave it at that and be thankful for all this rich tradition of both music and brilliant chess games?

Actually Mozart's music had nothing do with J.S.Bach, most his music was probably unknown to him. He did learn from Bach's sons, so there was an indirect connection there. But I'm not sure classical music can be compared to chess too much.

Such disrespect. Refering to a former world champion as goat. How would you you feel if someone called your favourite chess player a cow?
Magnus Carlsen winning another championship? Groundbreaking! I might faint from the sheer improbability. Next you'll tell me birds fly and the Pope wears funny hats. Did I black out for a second there? What was I saying?
Carlsen and Kasparov are the GOATs but Fischer deserves a shoutout. He was something special.

You must be joking, read up on your music history.

Precisely.

There is an old site that attempted to rate players cross generationally.
Here is there site:
http://www.chessmetrics.com/cm/CM2/Summary.asp?Params=1840AASSSSS3S000000000000111000000000000010100
Using those variables, it turned out that Fischer was the highest rated player of all time. Kasparov was second.
