Can I still become a good chess player?

Hello, I'm 15 I started playing chess properly 4 months ago, can I still become a good chess player (rated like 2000-2300) despite my age being 15? A lot of people are saying if you don't start playing chess at a very young age in future you have a veryyy small chances of actually getting anywhere, that's very demotivating to hear. I heard a stories of people playing chess for 20 years (starting at age 20) and still not even getting 2000 in rating.
Depends if you want to become a chess maniac without a life.

You can probably get up to 2200 FIDE but I think that to get further you will have to become a degenerate chess maniac. Just like me :)
I started when I was 20yo ( before that I knew only the rules ), 1634 is great for just a beginner. My first year didnt reach over 1000. ;) Chess Lover too
No. It is impossible to become good at chess unless you start very young.

You're still young, so it almost entirely depends on how many hours you put into the game how you study. Jonathan Hawkins is a GM who was an average amateur in his teens.
Depends on how much effort you're going to put on it. Probably, at your age, you cannot achieve IM, but 2300 (if loads of effort and such are put on it) is possible... if you'll be content with 2000, that's very much doable.
I think anyone with effort can get CM or around a CM level. I still think everyone has a chance to get GM/IM but the exorbitant amount of extra effort required will be very very difficult.
