Why I don't like zoos

So I'm at the San Diego zoo.
It's a huge zoo,I mean you can spend a whole day
and not see the whole zoo.
Anyway it's the seventies, I'm a little stoned and just wandering around the zoo and I come to the orangutan exhibit.

There's a female orangutan hanging upside down from a bar
Pissing on herself
It was funny
Yet shockingly sad
There happened to be a docent nearby
And he told me be careful
She likes to throw shit

I remember thinking
I would too

A victim of captivity
Probably why so many people these days are doing likewise, as they feel that they're in a Zoo of sorts, unable to be truly free, be it financially, verbally, emotionally or all three.
I feel truly sorry for animals such as you mention particularly, as they couldn't avoid their captivity, yet a lot of the masses have simply sleepwalked into theirs. :).
If we were all without water and food for maybe 3 to four days, our so called Civilisation would be a memory. :).

So you never made it past the gift shops I reckon.

It's always difficult for the prodigal son to return home.

> There's a female orangutan hanging upside down from a bar
Yeah, aunt Sheila never could control her liquor.
> Pissing on herself
Always getting so drunk. It's was embarrassing.
> It was funny
She drinks for a reason you know.
> Yet shockingly sad
Her husband left her for a mongoose.
> There happened to be a docent nearby
No, he was a pediatrician.
> And he told me be careful
Never liked him.
> She likes to throw shit
True, everytime she got drunk, she would say the meanest things.
> I remember thinking
...Ahh, no sorry, I forgot. Anyway...
> I would too
I'll drink to that.
> A victim of captivity
See, this is why I never go to my annual family reunion. I feel a captive, constrained by family expectations.
