Create a team , allow your friends to join and chat in team chat .

Do you want Lichess to become "chat" app like Whatsapp?!
If you want for some work like helding any big tourney then as suggested by #4 , create a personal team and have words there.....!

No like the chat there is very small and stuff the group needs to be completely private and should look like the normal chat of lichess.

First of all many people are underage here and many can't install it because of their parents
Second of all: How do you think if you meet someone online they're gonna start chatting with you on whatsapp? The group chat is not only for irl friends it is for both online and irl.Not to mention if it is on whasapp your number also gets leaked.
