Lichess banned atrophied

@PhillipTheTank

Stop spreading these rumors. Once there is proof then talk - now you are just creating noise.

It says he's banned for sandbagging. My question is clear - how did this "sandbagging" hurt anyone if we assume there is one in the first place?

I am not interested in your stories.
@blunderman1 what you missing is what we all missing: a clear explanation by the Lichess admins about the reasons of Atrophied's ban. We are missing the other half of the story.

And no, @PhillipTheTank, we are not missing the statistical analysis that some unknown guy MAY provide later this week, which MAY prove an accusation he has ALREADY made, for an offense totally different to the marking «This player artificially increases/decreases their rating» we see in Atrophied's profile.
#101:

I'm not spreading anything. That remains the most likely explanation, like it or not. You asked what you are missing. I guess ignoring was a better word. Fair enough, I won't respond to your queries further if you are not actually interested.

#102:
I wasn't talking to you. I kow you weren't missing it because you already responded.
So let me get this straight. Because there is no logical explanation whatsoever the most likely conspiracy theory that tries to explain what happened is:

* Atrophied cheated
* Lichess moderators didn't want to:
a) confront him for cheating
b) shame him since he is high profile
* So they decided to ban him for something else and somehow let him save face

At least they should have told him then, watching his video on the topic it doesn't seem like he knows how they spared him the shame. Or he is the boldest cheater ever, calling them out for more transparency.
I could answer those questions but you told me you weren't actually interested, so I won't bother. If you have changed your mind and actually are interested and those are legitimate questions, just let me know. I'll be happy to answer.
You guys are getting emotional over speculation; never a good idea. Only time will tell...I urge patience.

If you're a millennial (born between 1982 & 2002) ignore what I wrote.
Atrophied mentioned games against marioton. and thsoe all bullet games.

Against him he clearly played badly. Below his rating.
Here is what Lichess mods say about it sandbagging: QOUTE>>
What is unclear about it?
I'll try to rephrase so that we are all on the same page. The only way you will get marked as a sandbagger is if you intentionally lose games. Berserking and shitty openings are allowed as long as you aren't losing the games on purpose.

Examples:
You get scholar's mated a number of games in row, and its clear you are aware of this trap = not cool
You resign every game after one move = not cool
You intentionally throw games to get a lower rating = not cool
You play the bongcloud a number of games where you lose the majority but you are trying to win = fine
You berserk every game in a tournament and lose a lot of rating, but you aren't losing on purpose = fine
You berserk and play the bongcloud and lose every game, but you played your best = fine

Edit: I should have also included
You are drunk and as a result you play worse (or better) = fine. << END QOUTE

>>You intentionally throw games to get a lower rating = not cool <<

Not sure how lichess knows about s/o's intention ? How does lichess know if s/o is drunk ?

If that is not the case, lichess read his private messages. (= not cool.)
There are coaches/people here ,who would share their bank accounts/ credit card/paypal besides etc.

@PhillipTheTank

It was mostly supposed to be rhetorical what i wrote. Trying to illustrate the absurdity of the whole theory. Not actual questions

From other forums I see people saying that lichess are not supposed to explain themselves for each ban. But that is absurd. There is public interest in this case, that is what makes it different than any other. So they owe explanation, unless of course they don't want to look like North Korea. In that case they don't owe any explanation whatsoever.
@fiveTimes

But those games with mariorton are not relevant to the zh tournament rating he gets and that determines his table whatever (and he lost just some 50 points overall from that match). He didn't gain anything from those games as far as i can tell even if it was on purpose.

That's another topic, but its absurd to ban a user for something that is impossible to prove (intentions of losing/you played your best/stuff) is just bad approach to the whole thing. Ok tag him with something like "this player may or may not be manipulating his rating artificially" for a couple of weeks and let him play, if the practice remains, the tag remains. If his opponents don't like it they will block him just as well. It has to be 100% obvious he is doing something fishy to ban someone and he has to actually have gained something out of it. And this case is far from 100% clear, unless lichess team are good enough to present some sort of proof finally.
