CHESSBASE is waste of money :( lichess is best

@quickchess123 Who told you to buy Chessbase if your comp dosen't match the recommended settings. Before you buy a software always compare the recommended settings vs yours.

For your reference, including this:
Recommended: PC Intel Core i7, 2.8 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Windows 10, DirectX10 graphics card (or compatible) with 512 MB RAM or more, Windows Media Player, Adobe Flash Player (Live coverage), DVD ROM drive, Full HD Monitor and Internet access to activate the program, ChessBase Cloud and updates.
Chessbase Mega Database is of high quality. But the database software is not that good. SCID is much more powerful and free, but also not as intuitive, so few people use it.
Chessbase was a wonderful program with many useful features. The online community has reduced the value of this program, but I still prefer the old CB6.
I use Scid (alternative software to Chessbase) with Caïssabase (free 4M+ chess database)
@quickchess123 you installed the chessbase 15 and megadatabse on a 32 bit- computer!. Your computer can not handle these two softwares which are mend for 64 bit computers!
It depends what you want to do.

SCID works much faster and handles several databases excellent. There is one trick you have to get: Datenbank Umschalter. Don't know the english expression. If you got that the quality of the dbs you use is the next point.

Here chess assistant (CA) helps, which is used btw by several gms for their preparation too. It is clearly the better tool in case you want exchange pgn-files with your friends. You get all important games weekly, i.e. as fast as from CB, for 18 € per year. You can export them easily to pgn, which makes them readable for other programs and the pgn-files aren't "poisoned" by not standard variables, like CB does.

CA and SCID are reliable tools. If and only of you want to work with further CB-products, like their dbs or films or online services. I started working with linux only two years ago after ten years using linux and win. I used win for chess and at the beginning to help my wife with the continuous problems ms-office gave to her. Meanwhile I didn't miss CB this year. For completeness I bought the games update on Ebay for 18 € and entered till now only once win, to download the games. CB needed 8 hrs !!!! for finishing the updated db. For the same number of games SCID doesn't need 5 minutes.

If you want free quality dbs - there is TWIC and all over the time someone collected a good quality db. For correspondence games search. CB 99 € other quality dbs 20 € and less.

CB is for the rich and the ones who want to keep their habits. ;)
