NNUE & Firefox (104.0.2)

NNUE stopped to work today or yesterday in Firefox. Any idea what happened?

I can confirm this. Loading of then engine is also much slower after every move (used to be instant, now takes about 1 second).

Yes same here! Please bring it back (and if possible enable RAM >256 MB for firefox as well!)

I have the same problem asweel, I don't know if it's a bug or what.

My hope is that they are just updating something or need to adapt some component to a newer Firefox version and it will be working again in a few days.

You can make NNUE work again by going to about:config and set browser.tabs.remote.coep.credentialless to true

It's a Firefox issue and there's no other way around it other than downgrading to 103.

Thanks, @schlawg. Are there any (security) downsides to changing this setting? Also, could you maybe cross-post 1vader's explanation here for those that don't have a discord account?

@schlawg is it a permanent problem or just a few line the lichess devs have to update?

I didn't really experience the problem, but the best solution to this issue is to switch to Chrome. There aren't any glitches in chrome.

So I can confirm this enables NNUE again. However, the engine doesn't actually work for me. First, it takes a long time to get passed the "loading engine" stage (about 30s) and then it just hangs on "calculating moves".
