Using lichess on an iPad, there are no sounds made when My opponent or I move a piece. Not having sound when playing blitz makes lichess an undesirable choice.
I believe this is an old topic, and I have found plenty of people reporting this, and there are solutions on line, BUT they do not work on my iPad.
Some solutions refer to a little button near the iPad volume buttons. My iPad does not have that button.
Theories include that the ring tone functionality of the iPad is part of the problem. My iPad cannot make phone calls, but it does have a ring tone setting in Settings, and it plays a happy little jingle when I check it.
