hELO, i wanted to ask what is the normal ELo fluctuation that you experience? about 40-50 points or more ?
i experience lately to be 30-40 points, depending on how i play that particular session.
what are your thoughts?
yes, for some players. I personally enjoy some sessions where I am really focussed. But in other sessions I blunder game after game.
It's suggested that you should begin each session with a casual game, to warm up, and assess how your focussed, before playing rated games. I haven't been following this advise, hence my poor rating :-(
Hope this helps :-)
@ #1: "...the normal ELO fluctuation..."
I don't know and i don't care but btw: the rating system used on
lichess.org is Glicko.
Please see

@phlegm i sometimes like to start with a casual game but with 3 min blitz just to blitz out an get myself up to speed in tactics etc. Then i play rated 5 min blitz and count my blessings LOL!
@phlegm thanks for the link, it is very helpful....
On th eother hand what would be your losing-Winning streak?
i had a streak of about 8 wins and also 4 losses in a row.
@SasaTalpes I don't know exactly but I remember one recent session FIVE of my opponents blundered away their queens. I think I won seven consecutive games in that session.
Over the past week I've played terribly. I just began playing in auto mode without analysing each of my opponents moves.
My rating was below 1500 today but I managed to win some games. My rating is now 1504.
P.S. that helpful link was posted by Karlgoethebier :-)
rofl 30 -50 point flux. I flux between 100-200 depending on mood.
About 100 on classical and up to 250 on blitz.
@ #5:
"...I've played terribly."
I always play terribly, even if i win.
Abandon yourself to your fate.
Regards, Karl
My highest drop was 305 points in one weekend, from 2195 to 1890, my lowest rating ever. This was a good lesson. There is no better motivation to develop some chess discipline, than a big fat losing strike.
Around 200 points.
But I think that's more about my own mental state than normal fluctuations. I like to play after drinking as well as after mentally exhausting days when I can hardly see straight. But of course I also like to play when well rested and early in the day.
When I play in the same mental state the variance is quite small - usually around 50ish points.
