The Playing experience is getting worse and worse, to be honest. Mainly it is laggers, who make playing a pain due to lag compensation and its terrible consequences, and now nobody seems to care about something like this sound feature ... Years ago this was a blazing fast site and it was fun to play here. Now it is getting less and less fun, imo.
Yes, devs are investigating the issue.
I play on an older Macbook. There is a large delay that just appeared recently (including pieces moving slowly and the sound sometimes not playing) but seems ok on my faster PC. I'm hoping this is some overlooked performance bug that will be fixed, but if not, I think I need to get faster hardware to play online chess. :)
