Personally, I really don't like it when opponents add time to me. It generally feels patronising, and adds a weird dynamic I just don't enjoy - do they expect me to add time back if they need it? Sometimes they add time when I'm on the receiving end of mate-in-1, and I'm just running down the last 5 seconds rather than finding the resign button.
I'd prefer to be able to disable the option if possible.
you can just go to preferences and then click chess clock and then scroll to the bottom and you will see give time and click never

Ahh... I looked for it under "Game behaviour". IMHO it fits much better there, because it's about stuff that actually affects the game (like allowing takebacks, automatically promoting etc). It's not just a matter of aesthetics etc.
But, thanks. Disabled now.
It's not under the aesthetics section though. There's a separate section for clock stuff. Which admittedly is also a bit weird but I guess the game behavior section is already too full with other things.
