Why are so many crazyhouse players sacrificing their knight in opening despite no advantage?

Wow, that's a lot more benefits than I expected! I might start playing this opening soon lol
Thanks for all the explanations!

Other folks have brought up some great points. I just want to add that the f3/f6 pawn helps blunt the h1-a8 / a1-h8 diagonal, which can be helpful for a castled king. Also, it covers some important entry squares to the king, namely e4&g4 / e5&g5.
The idea is to save time and control e4. By not reacting black gains a little bit of time and almost always black gets this d5 e4 pawn lattice that is very invasive, probably even more annoying/invasive than a minor piece in the opening. White's position just becomes a little cramped and unpleasant.

Material value doesn't really matter at all in crazyhouse, in my opinion the two most important thing are square control and king saftey. If a pawn is controlling important squares and makes your king unsafe, it doesnt really matter that a knight is worth three and a pawn is worth one.
Wow even more advantages! I wrote this thinking this was just a troll opening and there were no benefits, but WOW there are so many. Thanks again for all the great explanations!
People didn't mention so far that 1e4 2e5 3exf6 cost 3 tempi if i play with black i like to face the 3exf6 line.
Alot like to play 1e4Nf62e5d5 3d4 trying to play for space advantage Bf8 is quite a passive piece usually in this kind of setup and all white pieces are fine Bc1 Bf1 are open openthe knight can choose where they go to
people even did 1e4 Nf6 2e5 d6 to force xf6 but in that case its alot better for white compare to 3exf6 though due the tempo. ut still 1e4 nf62e5 d6 is a line played strong players like jk the bullfrog from example
