Nice to see new contribution method, but I am worried about math. My mission as donator is to deliver a maximum of what I donate to the recipient and honestly, I do not care much of labels.
Can someone share the math behind PayPal and Patreon?

Both PayPal and Stripe (the credit card solution lichess uses) have fees of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

So for a $10 donation, lichess receives $9.41.

This is the best the market has to offer. All other solutions have higher fees, I compared.

So, it's better to donate $12 one time instead of $1 each month for a year, correct?

Because of the $0.30 fixed fee, correct.

PayPal and Stripe are both a rip off regarding the fees.

I wonder if there is a decentralized payment system which is not controlled by capitalists ;)
