Turn off noise for Private Messages?

I joined a bunch of teams & now I get lots of messages but I want to turn off the sound, it's annoying especially when I'm playing. Thanks

You can delete message history or leave the team.

If I remember correctly, the sound does not play if you are looking at a Lichess page (so including when you're playing). But if you have multiple Lichess tabs open then that won't work, because then there are tabs that think you are not watching.
