Berserk rule option

As a tournament creator who likes the fun of berserk - is it possible to add an option to a tourney so that beserk is mandatory if opponent is more than 500 points lower than you ?!

Maybe this would be encouraging for the lower rated ?!
weak players would have no reason to become stronger if they are rewarded (with time advantage) for being weak.
I think that would be more encouraging for sandbaggers
Some 2500s on the site just like beating the hell out of everyone and not beserk in even in tournaments I have vowed to beserk against under 1800s. For custom tournaments I think such 2500s are really like disgusting gutless vultures quite frankly who have no sense of entertainment or the culture of fun.

For custom tournaments the mandatory time odds of a 500 point difference seems fair enough to me as a viable optional tournament option.
Hi

Actually I see the people on this site are playing better and better vs top gms.

Congrtulations to everyone!
I like the idea by KC, it would be vers nice to have like an handycap-option, if I understand your idea right KC.
There's nothing wrong with not berserking. You get an extra point in the process so it's essentially a tactical decision at the end of the day. In addition to this, -30 secs means the game will end quicker which also works in your favour.

I would suggest perhaps if there was a "time odds" tournament option for tournament organisers, and say it was a bullet tournament, then each game could be theoretically lasting 2 minutes by spreading the time out.

So in the case of a 500 point difference maybe give 1.5 minutes to the person who is 2000 and 30 seconds to the person is 2500. So each game lasts still 2 minutes

You could use this threshold as the basis of a graph function, so that if for example the difference in rating is 250 points, then make it a 15 second difference. So the lower rated would get 1 minute 15 seconds, and the higher rated 45 seconds. Etc, etc.

I think such a time odds option would kind of "level the playing field" a bit more.

Cheers, K
