No side-ways scrolling

In Chrome, when I make the window narrower, I can't scroll sideways. So, when I'm in a game, I can't see the board and the clock (If I could scroll to the right, I could sacrifice the space on the left where the chat is to see the clock)

It's been like this for years, but I thought I'd bring it up now since I've started to play a lot more while split-screened
